Before Election Joe Biden Emphasizes Plan to Prohibit “Assault Weapons” and “High Capacity” Magazines
Democrat candidate Joe Biden is hell-bent on passing gun control if he’s elected to office. On November 1, 2020, Biden made his desires to ban “assault weapons” and “high capacity” magazines explicit. The former Vice President also vowed to enact other gun control legislation such as universal background checks.
Biden’s campaign account tweeted, “As president, I’ll ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, implement universal background checks, and enact other common-sense reforms to end our gun violence epidemic.”
It’s long past time we take action to end the scourge of gun violence in America.

AWR Hawkins of Breitbart News reminded readers that Biden’s gun control plans features a prohibition of the future production of AR-15s and other firearms that fall under the flimsy category of “assault weapons” and a provision that could mandate every AR-15 rifle to undergo registration in accordance to the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA). In essence, this could have American gun owners cough up a $200 federal tax for each of the AR-15s they own.
Biden has another plank which could have Americans sell back their “high-capacity magazines” to the government or be subject to registration under the NFA. Similar to the AR-15 NFA mandate, high-capacity magazine owners would have a $200 tax slapped on each magazine they own.
Hawkins noted other gun proposals that Biden is pushing:
- A provision that could ban online sales of ammunition, guns, and gun parts.
- A pledge to revive the Social Security gun ban, which targeted benefit recipients who needed help managing their finances. The ban was adopted during the last full month of the Obama presidency and repealed during the first full month of the Trump presidency.
- A provision that would limit Americans a one-gun-a-month purchase maximum. The Biden campaign website says, “Biden supports legislation restricting the number of firearms an individual may purchase per month to one.”
- A push to incentivize states to license would-be gun owners. Biden’s campaign website says, “Biden will enact legislation to give states and local governments grants to require individuals to obtain a license prior to purchasing a gun.”
At the end of the day, a vote for Biden would enable the largest anti-gun attack in American history. Trump may have his flaws, but a vote for him would at least keep a potential Democrat trifecta from completely gutting the Second Amendment.
