Biden Regime Calls on Supreme Court to Allow It to Destroy Free Speech Online

On September 14, 2023, the Biden regime requested the Supreme Court of the United States to temporarily stop a lower court directive that imposes limits on how it is allowed to deal with social media companies with respect to rules concerning content moderation.

US Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar allegedly told the justices that should the “unprecedented” order be allowed to stand, it would end with a Louisiana district judge being tasked with the surveillance of monitoring the executive branch’s communications with social media giants.

Prelogar warned that the Biden regime’s request for the judges to temporarily halt US District Judge Terry Doughty’s order will have “startling” implications, which includes imposing “unprecedented limits on the ability of the President’s closest aides to use the bully pulpit to address matters of public concern, on the FBI’s ability to address threats to the Nation’s security, and on the CDC’s ability to relay public-health information at platforms’ request.”

Justice Samuel Alito, who is in charge of taking emergency requests from the US Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, ruled that the lower court’s order will be freezed until the end of September 22 to give justices the time to issue a ruling on the request. In addition, Alito noted that plaintiffs must submit a response to the government’s application by late afternoon on September 20.

The lower court decision that was mentioned was made on July 4 by US District Judge Terry Doughty, who stated with respect to Missouri v. Biden that “the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth.'”

Doughty’s ruling to put constraints on the federal government’s power to talk about content moderation with social media companies was applicable to the White House, the Surgeon General, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and the Department of State.

Conclusions about government censorship reached in Missouri v. Biden largely confirmed information exposed in the Twitter Files, which demonstrated that government agencies such as the FBI had contacted Twitter to censor any content it deemed to be “misinformation” off of the platform.

The Biden regime is working diligently to destroy free speech in America. It clearly views dissent as an existential threat.

Because of the US’s strong free speech protections, Biden and co are using indirect methods to subvert this freedom.

Freedom advocates must stay on guard against these threats. The petty despots in the Biden regime are banking on the fact that we get caught sleeping at the wheel.

For that reason, we cannot allow them to get a chance to subvert our freedoms underneath our noses. That will require constant vigilance in order to prevent such a scenario from occurring.
