Biden Regime Withholds Funding For Schools that Have Hunting & Archery Programs

The Biden regime blocked critical federal funding allocated under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 for schools that have hunting and archery programs.

per federal guidance spread among hunting education groups and sent to Fox News Digital, the Department of Education determined that, under the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) passed in 2022, school hunting and archery classes are barred  from receiving federal funding. This policy change could impact millions of American children enrolled in these programs.

“It’s a negative for children. As a former educator of 30-plus years, I was always trying to find a way to engage students,” Tommy Floyd, the president of the National Archery in the Schools Program, said to Fox News in an interview. “In many communities, it’s a shooting sport, and the skills from shooting sports, that help young people grow to be responsible adults. They also benefit from relationships with role models.”

“You’ve got every fish and wildlife agency out there working so hard to utilize every scrap of funding, not only for the safety and hunter education, but for the general understanding of why stewardship is so important when it comes to natural resources,” he added. “Any guidance where it’s even considered a ‘maybe’ or a prohibition for shooting sports is a huge negative.”

Per Floyd, his organization is made up of 1.3 million students from almost 9,000 schools across 49 states who are enrolled in archery classes. Some of those schools have already canceled plans to feature archery or hunting education courses in their curriculum owing to the Education Department guidance.

In June 2022, the BSCA was passed with sizable majorities in both chambers of  Congress prior to President Biden signing it into law. The push to pass this legislation followed mass shootings at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, and a school in Uvalde, Texas.

The legislation contained an amendment to an ESEA subsection highlighting banned uses for federal school funding. That amendment bans ESEA funds from helping provide any individual with a dangerous weapon or to provide “training in the use of a dangerous weapon.”

The Biden regime has zero respect for the right to bear arms. While it has not been able to accomplish the direct passage of radical gun control legislation, the Biden regime is looking for all ways to undermine gun rights in the US.

For that reason, gun owners must keep their eyes open for all sorts of gun grabs that the political establishment will try to sneak through.
