Black Lives Matter Protesters March for Carjacker Shot by Police—Until They Find Out He Was White
Police in a Minneapolis suburb shot and killed a carjacker on Sunday after he initially fired multiple rounds at them. Black Lives Matter protesters then knelt for a moment of silence and gathered outside Gov. Tim Walz’s mansion soon after—but gave up and went elsewhere when they learned the carjacker was white.
According to a press release from the Burnsville Police Department, the suspect was “believed to be a white male in his 20s” and later died at the Hennepin County Medical Center from his gunshot injuries.
“Officers first encountered the suspect driving a vehicle with stolen plates which the suspect crashed,” the press release reads. “A short time later, police were notified the same male was involved in the carjacking of a female at gunpoint. Burnsville Police pursued the carjacked car and the suspect allegedly fired shots at pursuing officers before crashing the vehicle and continuing to fire at officers. Multiple officers returned fire.”
Fox 9 reporter Mitti Hicks captured video of the kneeling protesters before they were to venture over to Burnsville, and then tweeted less than an hour later that the protesters decided to head to Brooklyn Center “because they [needed] more information about what happened in Burnsville first.”
Sounds like a convenient excuse, eh? Not having enough information usually doesn’t stop BLM protesters. They undoubtedly received information that didn’t fit their narrative.
The protesters wound up going to Brooklyn Center to continue protesting the police killing of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old black man stopped for expired tags. Officers discovered during the stop that he had a warrant out for his arrest, and during the struggle to detain him a female police officer mistook her gun for her taser and ended up shooting and killing Wright.
