Brazil’s Bolsonaro Forgives Up to 92% of Student Debt as Biden Continues to Backtrack

President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil, a longtime Trump ally and right-wing figure, recently announced a provision that will forgive student debt, including up to 92% of debt for low-income college students. This comes a a surprise for many, given that Bolsonaro is generally seen by most as an ultra-conservative. Big League Politics has previously reported on Bolsonaro’s admiration for President Trump and defiance in the face of unhinged global vaccine mandates.

While abolition or reduction of student debt in the United States has been seen mostly as a left-wing issue to campaign off, the majority of people that wield power in the Democratic Party don’t really seem to care, at all. Earlier this year, Nancy Pelosi publicly condemned the idea of forgiving any student loan debt, citing that it was fiscally irresponsible to make someone else pay for your burdens. Joe Biden also faced massive backlash recently after he backtracked on promises to forgive massive amounts of student debt that have crippled the lives of millions of Americans.

Prominent left-wing commentator June Nicole Lapine (also known by her username ‘shoe0nhead’) pointed out on Twitter the irony that Bolsonaro, who many leftists claim to be a ‘far-right demagogue’, has done way more to assist indebted students that Joe Biden.

Democrats always seem to blame Republicans for the student debt crisis and push ideas on how to solve it when Republicans are in control, but when Democrats control the Presidency and both houses of Congress, they’re nowhere to be found.
