Can ABC Do ‘Roseanne’ Without Roseanne?

The ABC network is reportedly considering bringing back the show “Roseanne” without Roseanne Barr.

The network wants to focus on Sara Gilbert as the star of a new version. Gilbert publicly condemned Roseanne Barr after her tweets, despite the fact that Roseanne Barr was the star of the show and the attraction that everybody was tuning in to see.

“Deadline reports: As we previously reported, executive producers Tom Werner, who also executive produced the original series, and Gilbert, the main driving force behind the revival, are believed to be spearheading the efforts to continue the show and keep the writers, led by executive producer/showrunner Bruce Helford, and crew employed post-cancellation.”

This reboot of a reboot will almost certainly fail, considering that Sara Gilbert is not a popular comedienne like Roseanne Barr and people don’t really care about her character or the supporting cast (though John Goodman is popular).

This is simply the ABC network, owned by Disney, making it clear that they OWN “Roseanne,” and therefore they think they own the ratings and can tinker with it and make it liberal propaganda. But without its main talent, the show is not the same show, and all this does is pacify Hollywood liberal executives who have no talent. As Artie said on The Larry Sanders Show, “Network people see the word ‘Creative’ in their job title and start believing it.”

Here is the behind-the-scenes drama of “Roseanne,” which I reported on prior to the show’s abrupt cancellation after hearing about Jimmy Kimmel’s vulgar anti-Roseanne routine at the ABC Upfronts:
