Connecticut State Government Approves New Measure to Limit Number of Handguns Lawful Citizens Buy On a Monthly Basis

On October 1, 2023, the Connecticut state government passed a new gun control measure that limits the number of handguns lawful citizens buy each month.

Per an NPR report, State Senate President Pro Tempore Martin Looney celebrated the passage of this new gun control measure. Nevertheless, he is still not satisfied with it. He “wants to pursue further limits on monthly gun purchases.”

On top of that, Looney wants to pass a microstamping requirement at the state level. .

In addition to the handgun purchase limit that the Connecticut state government recently passed, the state government also imposed a prohibition on the open carry of guns.

Connecticut is anti-gun bastion no matter how one slices it. According to Michael Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety, Connecticut is ranked in 5th place in the nation when it comes to how strong its gun control measures stack up to other states. In a similar vein,

Guns & Ammo magazine’s best states for gun owners rankings has Connecticut ranked in a dismal 45th place.

With how deep blue some states have become, gun owners will have to come to grips with the reality that their activism has hard limits. At some point, they will either have to turn to the courts, nullify unconstitutional state laws, or leave the state altogether to enjoy some semblance of gun rights.

That’s how the cookie crumbles in the hyper-polarized polity that is the contemporary USA.
