Corporate Media is Moaning About How Social Media Platforms Aren’t Doing Enough to Censor Online Speech

Renowned mainstream media outlet the Associated Press recently put forward a piece warning about the potential dangers of deepfakes going “mainstream”. In addition, the AP declared that social media “guardrails” are quickly eroding.

Unsurprisingly, AP had this demand for social media to follow through with:

We need (even) more censorship here.

The aim of the censorship here is to allegedly “enhance its explanatory coverage of elections and democracy.”

For the authors of this piece, January 6 storming of the Capitol and the allegedly “false election conspiracies” connected to it serve as a wake-up call.

The authors believe that things will worsen in the lead up to the 2024 presidential election cycle due to a growing distrust of the electoral system among the general public.

“Many Americans, egged on by former President Donald Trump, have continued to push the unsupported idea that elections throughout the U.S. can’t be trusted. A majority of Republicans (57%) believe Democrat Joe Biden was not legitimately elected president,” the AP authors wrote.

For the legacy media, dissent is a major threat. These people are petty tyrants and they view contrarian political beliefs as existential threats. For that reason, they want to impose censorship no matter the cost.

The Right must remain vigilant and do everything possible to build an alternative media ecosystem that preserves free speech.
