Corporate Press Claims ‘Red Mirage’ Will Occur Election Night, With Many Dem Ballots Coming In Days, Weeks Later
This article from ABC News is making its rounds on the internet this morning, because it claims a “red mirage” will likely occur on Election Day.
A "red mirage," or an artificial GOP vote lead, will likely reoccur Tuesday. https://t.co/tagIbNJscC
— ABC News (@ABC) November 7, 2022
The post is titled “Early election night results might not indicate final tallies (and why that’s OK),” which is the exact kind of mainstream media headline many on the right have made parodies about because of its odd display of predicting the future.
Of course, in favor of Democrats.
Remember, this article is from an outlet that claims it is non-partisan.
From the piece:
As early Election Day results come in on Tuesday, it will likely appear that a Republican candidates vying for any number of the federal or statewide races appear to be leading their Democratic opponents, even by large margins.
Their leads will dwindle, or crumble completely, after perceived “dumps” of votes are recorded by state election officials who count mail-in and absentee ballots in the days — or even weeks — following Election Day.

According to ABC News, it is foolish for Americans to expect results in heavily contested elections on Election Night. They should instead be patient, waiting an upwards of “weeks” before a winner is declared.
More from ABC News:
This phenomenon was popularized as the “red mirage” or the “blue shift” after the 2020 presidential election, when former President Donald Trump took a deceptive lead in several competitive states on Election Day due to delays in counting of Democrats’ mail-in ballots — their preferred method of voting due to the COVID-19 pandemic — only to eventually dissipate when the entire reserve of votes was totaled.
The illusion was a principal component of Trump and his allies’ false claims that the contest was fraudulent upon his ultimate loss to Joe Biden.
In other words, because former president Donald Trump had questions about the 2020 election, anyone who beats to the same drum ought to roped in with his claims.
Nevermind the drastic pushback by Democrats on voter ID and the expansion of mail-in ballots. Americans are supposed to believe whatever the corporate press tells them to believe.
Why are votes expected to take so long with all this expensive modern technology that is supposed to make the whole process quicker and more efficient?

ABC News continues.
All signs point to the fact that it’s going to be extreme in certain critical states again, and Pennsylvania top among them,” Lawrence Norden, senior director of the Brennan Center’s Elections & Government Program said, noting that certain candidates may claim false victories or legally attempt to stop or slow vote counts.
Americans are rightfully skeptical about tonight’s election. And the corporate press with its “election deniers” narrative isn’t making anything better.
To the press, American elections should be viewed as a multi-day process. And they are gaslighting the nation into believing this is the way it has always been.
They are literally going to tell us every election now that sure it looks like the GOP won but just wait we’ll count the votes until they didn’t pic.twitter.com/d2vKbAwU2c
