Democrat Bill Would Require Proof of Vaccination, Negative COVID-19 Test, or Proof of Immunity for Air Travel

Legislation proposed by arch-Democrat and California US Senator Dianne Feinstein would require airline passengers to submit either proof of vaccination, a recent negative COVID-19 test, or proof of previously recovering from the virus.

The US Air Travel Public Safety Act would mandate the Federal Aviation Administration implement the COVID mandates on all air travelers throughout the country. It’s likely that tens of millions of Americans who have previously recovered from COVID don’t have documentation of their illness and recovery, forcing them to obtain vaccination or testing they’ve determined they don’t want or need.

Such a standard is already enforced on international flights bound for the United States. The measure would apply the same standard to US citizens traveling domestically.

Airlines have already introduced a variety of coercive and uncomfortable measures upon their customers in the name of COVID protection. Feinstein’s law would build upon corporate mandates with governmental backing. The Democrat cites the possibility of children becoming infected and spreading the disease on airlines as justification for the mandate legislation.

It only makes sense that we also ensure the millions of airline passengers that crisscross our country aren’t contributing to further transmission, especially as young children remain ineligible to be vaccinated.

Around 215 million Americans have already received at least one dose of a vaccine. COVID cases have spiked in late summer, even as an increasing proportion of Americans receive the medicine.
