Democrats Call on Biden Regime to Federalize National Guard to Resist Texas’ Border Measures

In the middle of the border standoff between the Biden regime and the Texas state government, Democrats are pushing President Joe Biden to seize control of the National Guard.
As a part of Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star program, Texas National Guard and the Department of Public Safety have erected concertina wire and other barriers along the Rio Grande in an attempt to stop illegal crossings.
After the Biden regime ordered Border Patrol officers in 2023 to topple the barriers to allow illegal aliens to enter the country, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals enacted an injunction barring them from doing so. However, the US Supreme Court got right of the injunction, thereby allowing the destruction of the barriers to continue.
Texas federal agents have so far prevented federal agents from entering Shelby Park — an area that is notorious for its large amounts of border crossings — and erecting more wire recently.
Several Democrats in Texas are urging the Biden regime to federalize the National Guard.
“Governor Greg Abbott is using the Texas National Guard to obstruct and create chaos at the border,” Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro declared in an X post on January 23, 2024. “If Abbott is defying yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling, [President Biden] needs to establish sole federal control of the Texas National Guard now.”
Ex-Congressman and failed candidate for the US Senate, president, and governorship Beto O’Rourke likened the situation to the forced integration at Little Rock Central High School in 1957.
“Abbott is using the Texas Guard to defy a Supreme Court ruling. When Gov. Faubus did this in 1957, Eisenhower federalized the Arkansas Guard to ensure compliance with the law. Biden must follow this example of bold, decisive leadership to end this crisis before it gets worse,” O’Rourke declared.
In response, Abbott announced that he would use the state’s constitutional power to repel the invasion at the border.
Attorney General Ken Paxton also reiterated his support for Abbott’s stance.
“As your Attorney General, I stand ready to bring any legal means necessary to defend Texas. We will push back against this out of control Federal Government to defend our state sovereignty,” declared Paxton.
Democrats know that open borders is their way to attaining political hegemony owing to the pro-Democrat proclivities of these migrant invaders. So any effort to halt this migration project will be adamantly opposed.
Texas should not budge here. Immigration restriction measures are perhaps the only way to keep the state red in the upcoming years.
