Did a New York Congressman Threaten to Assassinate Former President Donald Trump?

New York Congressman Dan Goldman claims that he ‘mistakenly used the wrong word’ when he recently proclaimed that Donald Trump “has to be eliminated” comments which several pundits viewed as a veiled death threat against Trump.

“I mistakenly used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump doesn’t become President again,” Goldman declared on X. “While he must be defeated, I certainly wish no harm to him and do not condone political violence. I apologize for the poor choice of words,” he added.

“His rhetoric is really getting dangerous. More and more dangerous. And we saw what happened on January 6th, when he uses inflammatory rhetoric. Now, in his recent Truth Social posts, is incredibly, incredibly scary for anyone uh, that, might be trying to work in government – and, it is just unquestionable at this point that that man can not see public office again. He is not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy, and he has to be eliminated,” Goldman said to MSNBC host Jen Psaki.

Goldman’s remarks were naturally met with strong criticism on social media. We’re not going to debate about whether Goldman’s remarks were genuine or not. One thing is clear:  deep in the very minds of countless liberals and cultural leftists

Is a desire to use violence against political rivals. Politics in the US has become a high stakes affair where people view each other as existential threats that must be liquidated.

Goldman’s comments are merely an appetizer of the nasty rhetoric and even kinetic action that is to come in the ensuing decades. To say that there’s political trouble brewing in the US would be an understatement.
