Diplomatic Relations Between the United States and Venezuela are Breaking Down

The United States government recently imposed sanctions on Venezuela in a move that looks to be reversing several rapprochement policies pursued by the Biden regime.

In response to the US’s punitive actions, Venezuelan officials announced that the government will block deportation flights coming from the US.

In October 2023, the US and Venezuela agreed to improve diplomatic relations. During the previous administration of President Donald Trump, the US prosecuted an economic war via the use of sanctions against Venezuela and tried to depose President Nicolas Maduro in several coup attempts. The Biden regime initially agreed to remove sanctions on Venezuela’s gold and oil sectors. For his part, Maduro agreed to take in Venezuelans deported by US authorities.

On January 29, 2024, the Treasury Department imposed sanctions again on Venezuela’s state-mining company. American authorities justified the move as a retaliatory measure to the Venezuelan Supreme Court’s move to strip two Venezuelan opposition leaders of their ability to run for the presidency.

On top of that, the State Department threatened to reimpose sanctions on the oil industry if the Venezuelan government did not restore the candidates’ electoral eligibility.

The Maduro regime  responded by stating that the Venezuelan government would halt its acceptance of  deportation flights from the US. “If they make the mistake of intensifying the economic aggression against Venezuela at the request of their extremist lackeys, repatriation flights for Venezuelan migrants will be immediately revoked as of Feb. 13,” Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez declared in a post on X.

Venezuela is definitely on America’s shit list. Apart from it taking an illiberal turn in the last 30 years, Venezuela has aligned itself with geopolitical rivals such as China, Iran, and Russia. This is a move that angers the Anglo-American-Zionist supremacists that dominate foreign policy circles in the US and Washington.

To be sure, Venezuela has an awful economic system that does not respect property rights and completely destroys its currency and the savings capacity of its population.

However, that’s a problem for the Venezuelan people to solve themselves.

The last thing the US should do is to get involved in another quixotic military venture.
