“Do What You’re Told!” Dr. Anthony Fauci Admonishes as the Holiday Season Approaches

Although Americans possess an “independent spirit,” we have to “do what [we’re] told” in order to stop the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci said Thursday.

The remarks came during a speech at Washington National Cathedral with other doctors and scientists.

“I was talking with my UK colleagues who are saying the UK is similar to where we are now, because each of our countries have that independent spirit,” Fauci said. “I can understand that, but now is the time to do what you’re told.”

Fauci again reiterated his admonishment for people to wear masks, socially distance, and wash their hands. He also lamented the “divisiveness” and the fact that science “has been lumped into politics.”

Big League Politics had previously written on Fauci rejecting the Swedes’ pandemic mitigation model as suitable for the United States:

“If you just let things rip and let the infection go … that, quite frankly, George, is ridiculous,” Fauci said on Thursday during an interview with Democrat operative George Stephanopoulos on ABC News.

“What that will do is that there will be so many people in the community that you can’t shelter, that you can’t protect, who are gonna get sick and get serious consequences,” Fauci added.

“So this idea that we have the power to protect the vulnerable is total nonsense because history has shown that that’s not the case. And, and if you talk to anybody who has any experience in epidemiology and infectious diseases, they will tell you that that is risky, and you’ll wind up with many more infections of vulnerable people, which will lead to hospitalizations and deaths. So I think that we just got to look that square in the eye and say it’s nonsense,” he said.

Fauci may openly hesitate to support lockdowns now, yet what if “doing what we’re told” involves accepting another lockdown ordered by our own state government? Do we once again have to sit down, shut up, and stay home?

Some local governments and states have indeed tightened restrictions to curb the increased spread of infections. Ralph “Blackface” Northam, for instance, expanded Virginia’s mask mandate and limited public and private gatherings to 25 people. If a Virginian is the 26th person at a church service on Sunday, should they listen to Dr. Fauci and Gov. Northam and go home?

No, we won’t just do what we’re told. We’re perfectly capable of making informed decisions for ourselves and our families.
