DRUDGE: Shutdown Agreement Reached, Announcement This Afternoon

According to the banner on drudgereport.com, an agreement has been reached to end the government shutdown, and President Donald J. Trump will make the announcement live at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.

“Source: Shutdown agreement reached; announcement set for 1PM; govt to reopen ‘temporarily,'” the site said in all capital letters.

The apparent deal comes on the midst of growing angst among federal workers, who will miss their second paycheck Friday, though they will be back-paid in full when the shutdown ends.

Last weekend, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi swiftly rejected a deal that would have reopened the government. Trump offered temporary extensions for DACA recipients in exchange for border wall funding.

Thursday, reports swirled that Trump was planning to declare a national emergency in order to build the wall.

“The massive amount of aliens who unlawfully enter the United States each day is a direct threat to the safety and security of our nation and constitutes a national emergency,” a draft of a presidential proclamation reads.

“Now, therefore, I, Donald J. Trump, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C 1601, et seq.), hereby declare that a national emergency exists at the southern border of the United States,” the draft adds.
The draft was updated as recently as last week, a US government official told CNN.
