Lightfoot, after failing to advance to a runoff election, is now blaming “racism” and her gender for her abysmal poll numbers.
From The New York Post:
Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot blamed racism and her gender for her landslide defeat in her re-election bid, as Chicagoans weary of the rising crime on her watch celebrated her fall from “political rock star to rock bottom.”
“I’m a black woman in America. Of course,” she replied when asked by a reporter if she had been treated unfairly.
As expected, Lightfoot is taking no accountability. Even though her city – which has been dubbed “Chiraq” by the right for its ongoing, vastly unaddressed crime and murder sprees – has been nothing but a public display of failed progressive policies over the past 4 years.
Big League Politics has covered these failures over Lightfoot’s power reign.
More from The Post:
[H]omicides, mostly from gun violence, spiked dramatically in 2020 and 2021 from 500 murders in 2019 to 776 and 804 in the next two years, respectively. Shootings and carjackings also skyrocketed.”
Violent crime in the city spiked by 40% since she promised during her inaugural address to end the “epidemic of gun violence that devastates families, shatters communities, holds children hostage to fear in their own homes,” the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Lightfoot has run her city into the ground. Yet she still feels determined to undermine voters through the guise of woke identity politics.
But can we really blame her? It’s all she has left.
From The Chicago Tribune:
Lightfoot struggled through a storm of skyrocketing crime, the COVID-19 pandemic and a series of personality conflicts that left her labeled as a divisive leader who was unable to build political coalitions or maintain relationships.
Lightfoot conceded defeat late Tuesday, finishing third in the nine-candidate race behind former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas and Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson, who will face each other in the April 4 runoff election, according to unofficial results.
Will this be the end of Lori Lightfoot? Likely not. Democrats always have their way of failing up. And it’s without question the former Mayor’s identity politics can serve useful to the progressive regime at some point in the future.
After all, other platforms are still promoting Lightfoot’s historical successes for being the first openly gay, Black woman to win the mayor’s office.
