FBI Agent Suffers Carjacking Close to Capitol Hill as Washington DC Experiences a Nasty Crime Wave

According to a report by law enforcement officials, an FBI employee suffered a carjacking close to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC on November 29, 2023. This incident comes at a time when the United States’ capital is experiencing a significant crime wave. 

Law enforcement officials responded to the armed carjacking in the 100 block of 12th St. NE at around 3:45 p.m., per a report by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Law enforcement was able to determine that the victim was a federal agent, who informed officials that two suspects had stolen the vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was recovered not too long after the incident took place, in the 1000 block of 15th St. SE, less than a mile away from where the car was stolen, officials reported.

“At this time, we can confirm that an FBI employee was carjacked on the afternoon of November 29,” an FBI spokesperson declared in an emailed statement to NBC Washington.

“The vehicle was recovered, and the FBI Washington Field Office and the Metropolitan Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force are investigating.”

No additional information was released concerning the two suspects, and officials didn’t provide additional details with respect to the lead-up and aftermath of the carjacking.

The incident took place at a time when violent crime rates have increased across DC in the last year, per police data, which represents a 40% increase year over year, with homicides up by 23%, robberies on the rise by 69%, and arson climbing upward by 125%.

Assaults with a dangerous weapon also increased by 3% in 2023 compared to 2022, per the data, whereas motor vehicle thefts have increased by 93%.

No city, even the US’s capital, is not safe. Decades of lax law enforcement and a permissive attitude towards social deviancy.

For the US to revert to socio-economic stability, law & order must be stored. From there, society must be ready to police itself and stamp out anti-social behavior from the jump.
