Fentanyl Crisis Propels County in Pennsylvania to Terminate “Sanctuary” Status for Illegal Aliens

Towards the end of February, a Pennsylvania county scrapped its “sanctuary” status that protects illegal aliens from arrest as the national fentanyl crisis has been heading northward. John Binder of Breitbart News noted the county in question — Butler County — has been a reliably pro-Republican area in recent elections.

This latest move by Butler County leaders would bar Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from arresting illegal aliens.

Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told WTAE4 News that this decision was made during a time when the county has been recently rocked by a massive influx of fentanyl coming from Mexico, which often came with border crossers and illegal aliens.

“Our crime is not just DUIs and retail theft anymore. We have drugs,” Goldinger stated. “Again, that stuff has not come from citizens that are making fentanyl in Butler County. It’s being brought here.”

Pennsylvania has experienced an alarming increase in drug overdose deaths in recent years. The most recently published Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data demonstrate that over 5,100 Pennsylvania residents died in 2020 from unintentional drug overdoses. 85% of these overdose deaths involved opioids.

For comparison, fewer than 1,700 Pennsylvania residents died from drug overdoses in 2005. In other words, in that 15-year timeframe, drug overdose deaths have soared by over 220% in the Keystone State. Additionally, the surging overdose deaths aren’t just tied to accidental overdoses but they also involve poisonings. According to law enforcement sources, fentantly is apparently being found “in everything” ranging from candy to vape pens.

These skyrocketing overdose deaths are not only tied to accidental overdoses but also poisonings, as law enforcement says they are finding fentanyl “in everything” from candy to vape pens.

Nationally, over 100,000 Americans die annually from drug overdoses, which includes small doses of fentanyl. In effect, the US is losing more people due to drug overdoses than young men who perished in Vietnam. A truly devastating development. Moreover, these drugs are coming in from abroad across the southern border.

That’s where the US’s real national security is coming from. Will the US’s ruling class ever grasp this?
