First Transgender Lawmaker in New Hampshire History Charged with Distributing Child Porn

The first transgender lawmaker ever elected in the state of New Hampshire has been arrested and charged with distributing child pornography.
Former state Rep. Stacie Marie Laughton of Derry is being accused of trafficking sexually explicit materials of children. Laughton has been charged with distribution of child sexual images and was arraigned today.
“They spoke with reporting parties that indicated Laughton distributed sexually explicit images of children. Detectives from the special investigations division were assigned to further the investigation. They applied for and were granted a warrant for Laughton’s arrest,” said Sgt. John Cinelli, who works as Nashua Police Department public information officer.
Laughton stepped down from “her” role in the New Hampshire state legislature last year, citing mental health issues. Laughton was arrested on stalking and harassment charges shortly before leaving office.
“As of today, I’m no longer a state representative which is very disappointing, but I’m going to come back to it,” Laughton says in the video. “I will be attending mental health court and getting some counseling and trying to get my life back on track. I’m not perfect. Even in the future I still won’t be perfect but I will be a better version of myself and better able to handle situations that come my way. In two years, the next state election, I will run for state representative again.”
“I’m alive, I’m safe, I’m well,” Laughton added. “I’m not suicidal, and just trying to get by every day with what I’ve been dealt. I don’t know what the future holds but I do know this — there’s a lot of good opportunities out there for me to serve, and a lot of good opportunities for me to still stay connected with everyone and I plan to do that.”
In addition to the child porn arrest and stalking and harassment charges, Laughton has been arrested for domestic violence/criminal mischief in 2002 and then for assaulting a woman in 2003. Laughton hides behind “her” mental illness as the reason behind this long history of violent predatory behavior.
“I have had a mental illness my whole life, and I guess this was my worst break with it. I was untreated for a long time, and I didn’t have medication,” Laughton said to the New Hampshire Union Leader after an arrest for issuing a bomb threat to a hospital.
“I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone, and it was totally out of character for me. I have put a lot behind me, and I never thought I would do this in a million years,” Laughton added.
Another mentally ill transgender person is credibly accused of victimizing children. Could there be a pattern emerging here?
