Before the hyper-partisanship set in completely with the fake news media, the Baltimore Sun published an article declaring that Trump is correct about his assertion that Baltimore and other large Democrat-run cities are disaster zones.
The op/ed was written by Sean Kennedy at the Maryland Public Policy Institute in Nov. 2016, shortly after Trump was elected to the White House, admitting the problems with Baltimore that Trump brought up were in fact legitimate.
“Donald J. Trump is known for his hyperbole, but not all of his ideas are a stretch. Our inner cities are a “disaster,” as he said in the final presidential debate — and they should be officially declared so,” Kennedy wrote.
Because of failed Democratic leadership, Kennedy urged for a “federal disaster declaration for our most impoverished neighborhoods hard hit by crime, urban blight and economic malaise.” He mentioned a precedent that has already been set that could be expanded by Trump to immediately improve these beleaguered cities.
“Under the model established after the I-35W bridge collapse over the Mississippi River, federal authorities can streamline infrastructure and other projects that often take a decade from start to finish. The Minnesota bridge was rebuilt better than ever in 437 days by cutting out the red tape that typically mires such projects,” Kennedy wrote.
Kennedy also called for more availability of capital for individuals within these cities, perhaps through the Small Business Administration or through home improvement and personal loans, as a way to empower the people to improve their own lives away from the stifling bureaucracy that has been put into place over decades of liberal rule.
“In Baltimore, the fall in income and wealth has been especially dramatic, according to Loyola-Maryland economics professor Stephen Walters. Property and income taxes have risen dramatically while real income, especially for minorities in the inner-city, has fallen precipitously since 1950,” Kennedy wrote.
“As the tax base shrank in the city, the wealth gap grew dramatically — with the poorest 20 percent in the area worth equal to 1/12th of the richest 20 percent,” he added.
Kennedy also proposed “microloans in lieu of social assistance payments,” another bold Trump proposal, as the means to help Baltimore regain its lost prosperity.
“Micro-lending models like this have been fabulously successful in the third world and in limited experiments in the United States. For taxpayers, the dollars are a sunk cost — recipients will get them either way from the government, but the upside is huge if they help to spur new business formation, job creation and most of all hope in these distressed communities,” Kennedy wrote.
“Declaring our most beleaguered neighborhoods to be “disaster zones” and encouraging entrepreneurial activities through access to capital and microloans would inject capital, expedite much needed infrastructure and give our inner cities hope again,” he concluded.
It is not likely that anything this truthful would be published in the Baltimore Sun nowadays, with the fake news being pushed into overdrive as the liberal establishment becomes more desperate to stop Trump’s re-election no matter the cost.
Reuters Calls Louisville Riots Where Cops Were Shot by Black Lives Matter Terrorists ‘Mostly Peaceful’
After cops were shot in Louisville during widespread Black Lives Matter rioting on Wednesday night, Reuters had the audacity to claim that the demonstrations were “mostly peaceful.”
Demonstrations in Louisville wore on past nightfall in defiance of a 9 p.m. curfew and remained mostly peaceful until several gunshots rang out in the midst of a skirmish between protesters and heavily armed police https://t.co/lvEd2XalpJ pic.twitter.com/L8GrPNrwCg
— Reuters (@Reuters) September 24, 2020
In the Reuters article linked in the tweet, the shooting of the police officers was buried in the article. Instead, editors focused on the race of the cops who returned fire to Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend after he shot at them while they were carrying out a lawful warrant at his home.
“Two white policemen who fired into the apartment of Breonna Taylor, a Black medical worker, will not be prosecuted for her death because their use of force was justified, and a third was charged with endangering her neighbors, Kentucky’s attorney general said on Wednesday,” they wrote.
Reuters buried the lead, opting to demonize the “heavily armed police” who sent the “crowd scurrying for cover,” even though it was the Black Lives Matter/ANTIFA terrorists who shot the law enforcement officers.
Big League Politics reported on the decision by Kentucky officials to charge one of the three officers involved in the shooting death of Taylor:
On September 23, 2020, Jefferson County Judge Annie O’Connell announced that fired detective Brett Hankinson will be indicted on three counts of wanton endangerment for his actions on the night of Breonna Taylor’s death.
Hankison had previously admitted to shooting blindly. Some of those shots were fired into neighboring apartments not into Breonna Taylor’s where her boyfriend had opened fire onto police.
Myles Cosgrove and Jonathan Mattingly, the other two officers involved in a serving a search warrant on the night that Taylor was killed, did not receive any charges.
The city of Louisville was placed under a state of emergency on September 22, when city officials shutdown a significant portion of the city perimeter to traffic. The majority of administrative building and other businesses were boarded up prior to the decision. Louisville has been rocked by riots related to Taylor’s death in March. These riots have been occurring for over 100 days and have resulted in a number of deaths and heated confrontations with law enforcement.
Starting on the night of September 23, there will be a 72-hour curfew in Louisville. The curfew will not apply to people partaking in essential travel, which includes work-related purposes or medical attention. Kentucky National Guard members will be deployed to the city for the purpose of maintaining public order…
Conservatives and nationalists should make it a point to promote healthy debate, while establishing a baseline of public security, to ensure that the country does not spiral further out of control in such times of instability.
