As Washington readies for a potential military showdown with North Korea, former President Bill Clinton’s October 1994 nuclear deal with the rogue East Asian state bears special significance. Clinton vowed that North Korea’s nuclear weapons program would be stopped, but he still promised to approve of resources for the country. North Korea subsequently obtained nuclear weapons. Clinton struck the deal with the current dictator’s father Kim Jong Il.
