Florida Man Throws Smoke Bomb into Mar-a-Lago Over Delayed Stimulus Check
A Florida man has been arrested for throwing a smoke bomb into the grounds of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, with the device causing two cars to crash seeking to avoid its fumes.
38-year old Paul Rawls is facing charges of making, possessing, throwing or discharging any destructive device, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He was arrested on Sunday, with law enforcement responding to reports of a smoldering device on South Ocean Boulevard, adjacent to Mar-a-Lago. Police claim Rawls admitting to throwing the smoke bomb when he was apprehended, with footage allegedly showing him throwing the “5 Minute White Smoke” device from a gray Volkswagen.
Two motorists had crashed after swerving to avoid the smoke flowing from the commercial incendiary device.
Rawls reportedly cited his animosity towards President Trump for the criminal act, describing himself as a military veteran who had struggled since leaving the armed forces. However, if he drives a Volkswagen, maybe he’s not as desperate for $1400 in Biden Bucks as the average American.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department dispatched a bomb squad to the resort to look for additional devices. Crimes targeting the property of the former President require additional public safety resources, this costing the public more than ordinary vandalism.
Rawls seemingly hadn’t considered that Donald Trump is no longer President and isn’t responsible for the haphazard rollout of the latest round of stimulus checks. During his time in office, the 45th President provided two relief checks to taxpayers for a sum of $1800 total, a third larger than the check Biden is currently cutting to middle class taxpayers. Some tax filers who received checks under Trump won’t get them under Biden, as well.
Rawls is incarcerated at the Palm Beach County Jail on a $21,000 bond.
