Florida: Trust The Science-

On Wednesday, Florida’s Department of Health issued the state’s clarification on the treatment of children and adolescents dealing with gender dysphoria. The statement offers a sane perspective on a “fact” sheet released by the Office of Population Affairs, which operates under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The internet-shaking document, titled “Treatment of Gender Dysphoria for Children and Adolescents,” seeks to “provide guidance” that is counter to the anti-scientific information being offered by the Biden administration. This is an incredibly important development, as Florida is taking a stand against what has become a national religion that demands the adherence of all. And many, governments and individuals, will follow the state’s lead. 

 

Florida’s release of the document is a direct response to the federal government’s “scientific” guidance: “The Florida Department of Health wants to clarify evidence recently cited on a fact sheet released by the US Department of Health and Human Services and provide guidance on treating gender dysphoria for children and adolescents.”

First, the communication calls out the perverse science used to justify insane and damaging medical treatments for children, asserting that “hormonal treatment for young people show a trend of low-quality evidence, small sample sizes, and medium to high risk of bias.” Linked to this statement is a 2019 research paper from the Linacre Quarterly, which is the Catholic Medical Association’s official journal.

Citing an article from the International Review of Psychiatry titled “Gender dysphoria in childhood,” Florida’s health department explains that 80% of “those seeking clinical care will lose their desire to identify with the non-birth sex,” making irreparable surgery to treat these problems in children extremely damaging and senseless.

The health department goes on to list their guidelines, which they state take into account the “lack of conclusive evidence” and the fact that the effects of these medical procedures on children can be irreversible. 

In the guidelines, Florida warns strongly against encouraging several specific surgeries, as well as the use of prescription hormones and puberty blockers, stating that these procedures present an “unacceptably high risk of doing harm.”

The ACLU has already come out strongly in favor of genital mutilation, citing its “life-saving” benefits and the deranged opinion that it’s “medically-necessary.”

Biden’s federal government also parts ways with Florida on the issue of irreparably damaging the sexual organs of America’s children. In HSS’s “fact” sheet, the “science” behind the insanity is explained:

Gender-affirming care is patient-centered and treats individuals holistically, aligning their outward, physical traits with their gender identity…A safe and affirming healthcare environment is critical in fostering better outcomes for transgender, nonbinary, and other gender expansive children and adolescents. Medical and psychosocial gender affirming healthcare practices have been demonstrated to yield lower rates of adverse mental health outcomes, build self-esteem, and improve overall quality of life for transgender and gender diverse youth.

This is being shared so that you will be aware of what the federal bureaucracy is prescribing for children. This is not a statement saying that giving children hormones to “pause” puberty for a prolonged period of time is in any way reversible; it’s not. But this is HHS saying that it is:

 

There has been a high level of effort to create a lexicon aimed at confusing a mental illness, that should be treated, with a physical condition, that requires a medical procedure. But despite this massive effort to inflict this mental illness on society, many are refusing to play in to what are clearly lies.

 

The state of Florida is making a big policy declaration with this release. And they’re showing Republicans the way to win big in future elections.

These social issues have a vastly more powerful effect on voters than a whatever-percentage decrease in some tax they shouldn’t even be paying. There’s something about being told that a society’s children will be masked, sexualized and taught to hate themselves that really animates an electorate.
