Former President Donald Trump Indicated that He’s Willing to Debate Joe Biden

Former President Donald Trump signaled that he is willing to debate President Joe Biden, even if the debates receive the sponsorship  of the Commission on Presidential Debates. In addition, he stated he is receptive to the idea of l debating a single Republican challenger if a credible rival comes out of the New Hampshire primary.

Trump has not participated in primary debates thus far, pointing to his sizable lead in the polls. In an interview on December 22, 2023 with conservative radio pundit Hugh Hewitt, he was asked if he would go on stage to debate Biden if he received the GOP nomination.

“Oh, will I look forward to that,” Trump replied. “How about 10 debates?”

Trump would even participate in the debates if the debates are sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates, which he and other Republicans have criticized for years.

“They are totally corrupt and they’re terrible. With that being said, I would do 20 debates, even if it was organized by them. I would do as many debates as they want,” he stated. “I’d do a debate every night with this guy.”

Back in April 2022, the Republican National Committee voted unanimously to withdraw from the commission’s debates, arguing that the debates are biased, and mandated candidates to sign a pledge promising to only participate in debates that the committee approved of. Trump, for his part, never signed on to the pledge.

This non-profit was created in 1987 and has sponsored every general election presidential and vice presidential debate since then. The organization establishes the rules for each debate and picks the locations, dates, and moderators for the debates.

On top of that, Trump said during the interview that he would be willing to take part  in a Republican primary debate if the race ends up being just him and a single rival following the New Hampshire primary. “Yeah, I would, if it was very close, I would debate that Republican,” Trump stated.

Trump is far and away the prohibitive favorite to receive the GOP nomination later this year.

Trump asserted that he is “not worried” about Haley, who previously served as ambassador to the United Nations under Trump and served as the governor of South Carolina.

While Trump did not participate in the GOP primary debates, he has stressed that he would participate in a general election debate.

“We have to debate,” he said to Fox News host Bret Baier in an interview back in June.  “He and I have to definitely debate. That’s what I love. The two of us have to debate.”

At this point, debates do not matter. America is a post-persuasion society where debates are constantly stifled through Big Tech censorship and societal cancellation. Trump should worry more about the electoral obstacles the ruling class will place in front of him, than trying to participate in a public debate.

The ideas of America First nationalism speak for themselves and all he needs to do is to continue hitting the pavement on the campaign trail and flooding the social media space with his message.
