Former Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama Appear in PSA Urging Americans to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine as Part of “It’s Up to You” Initiative

Three former presidents—Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama—appeared in a 30-second PSA urging Americans to receive the COVID-19 vaccine whenever possible.
The public service announcement was created by the joint Ad Council and COVID Collaborative initiative called “It’s Up To You,” which operates the website GetVaccineAnswers.org to inform and educate people on the COVID-19 vaccine. The initiative partnered with Clinton, Bush, Obama, Jimmy Carter, and their wives to produce the PSAs.
Bush, Clinton, and Obama appear in one PSA standing socially distanced and alternating phrases and sentences in the script, which reads as follows:
“Our fellow Americans, right now the COVID-19 vaccines are available to millions of Americans. And soon, they will be available to everyone. The science is clear: these vaccines will protect you and those you love from this dangerous and deadly disease. They could save your life. So we urge you to get vaccinated when it’s available to you. That’s the first step to ending the pandemic and moving our country forward. It’s up to you.”

The jury is out, however, on whether this will be persuasive. Hard to say that there are many Americans who will think, “Well, I was long skeptical of the vaccine, but then I changed my mind when Clinton, Bush, and Obama told me I should get it!”
