FUNNY MONEY: Ocasio-Cortez Accused of Paying Partner with Campaign Cash

AOC’s campaign finance records show some questionable payments.

A former employee of the National Republican Senate Committee did some digging into the campaign finances of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, only to find some shady dealings that are raising eyebrows.

Ocasio-Cortez’s Chief of Staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, was heavily involved in the socialist congresswoman’s campaign. He owns a PAC called Brand New Congress, and an associated Limited Liability Company (LLC) by the same name. This is not particularly unusual, but some of the payments transferred between the company, the PAC, and Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign appear to be less than ethical.

“Like other candidates, AOC paid Brand New Congress LLC for strategic consulting, in her case totaling $18,880.14,” wrote Luke Thompson on Medium. “Unlike in the other cases, Brand New Congress PAC turned around and paid her boyfriend as a ‘marketing consultant.'”

Thompson used publicly available Federal Election Commission documents to source his report.

“Indeed, while Brand New Congress PAC’s ten largest expenditures were paid to Brand New Congress LLC for ‘strategic consulting,’ a sum that totaled $261,165.20 over the course of the campaign, its eleventh and twelfth largest expenditures were paid to Riley Roberts,” the report said.

Roberts has been described by Ocasio-Cortez as her “partner.”

PACs transferring money to private companies for services rendered is normal campaign activity. Even the fact that Chakrabarti owned both the PAC and the company is relatively standard. But some of the transactions are highly questionable.

Thomson reports:

Brand New Congress PAC paid Roberts $3,000 on August 9th:

Eighteen days later, AOC’s campaign paid Brand New Congress LLC $6,191.32:

Payments from AOC’s Campaign to Brand New Congress LLC

A month later Brand New Congress PAC then turned around and paid Riley Roberts another $3,000.

The speculation is that money was flowing from Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign, through the LLC, and then back into the pockets of Roberts by way of the PAC in the form of “services rendered.”

“Regardless of whether or not Roberts was officially AOC’s spouse at that time, it seems probable Chakrabarti was reimbursing her for her campaign expenses off-books. Brand New Congress PAC simply served as a pass-through to do so,” Thompson said.

“When AOC won, she then hired Chakrabarti, her strategist/patron, as her Chief of Staff. Taking money from a rich guy, trying to hide it by passing it through a PAC, and then giving her benefactor a government job.”

Nine of the 2020 Forbes Ten Wealthiest Americans Are Democrat-Affiliated Liberal Megadonors

Pure oligarchy, greed and corruption.

Forbes Magazine released its annual list of the 400 wealthiest people in the world this week, and nine of the top ten wealthiest Americans featured on the list appear to be staunch Democrats and liberal donors.

Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett, Larry Ellison, Steve Ballmer, Elon Musk, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Alice Walton were named as the wealthiest American citizens, all possessing a personal net worth of over 60 billion dollars. Nearly all of them are closely affiliated with Democrat politics in various capacities, most commonly as lavish donors to Democrat campaigns and liberal political causes.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is the only exception, being a figure who appears unaffiliated with the political left, having donated considerably more money to Republicans than Democrats in the 2018 election cycle, although he donated to Hillary Clinton in 2016. Musk has vaguely affiliated himself with some conservatives, and opposed some of California’s coronavirus lockdown policies.

Bezos himself reportedly personally encouraged Mike Bloomberg to run for President, having feuded with President Trump personally at length over Amazon’s utilization of the Postal Service. He hasn’t donated to Biden, but his general affiliation with Democratic politics is indicated through his tacit Bloomberg endorsement.

Alice Walton, a Walmart heiress, comes from a traditionally Republican family, but is a Biden donor with an extensive history of supporting Democrats. The rest of the top 10 are reliable Democrat donors, donating to Republicans rarely, if at all. Mark Zuckerberg occasionally depicts himself as a political centrist independent of Silicon Valley neoliberal politics, but the Facebook platform engages in prolific censorship of conservatives, without applying the same tactics to the political left.

The wealthiest billionaire oligarchs are determined to use their political power to crush the life prospects of the everyday American and the traditional middle-class American way of life. The political right and real conservatives should oppose them at every turn, reinstating an economic vision that upholds small businesses over multinational corporations and entrepreneurship at a local, community level as an alternative to the domination of monopoly billionaires.
