Georgia Congressman Andrew Clyde Plans on Introducing Congressional Review Act Resolution to Stop Enforcement of ATF’s Latest Rule

Towards the end of March, Georgia Congressman Andrew Clyde introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution in an effort to hinder the enforcement of the ATF’s AR-pistol stabilizer brace regulation.

Breitbart News previously reported how the CRA grants Congress the ability to block the ATF’s latest regulation. AWR Hawkins of Breitbart News noted that the CRA was implemented in the 1990s as part of then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America.” It authorizes Congress to review sweeping rules and regulations and vote to block the enactment or effectiveness of the rule.

According to the US Government Accountability Office’s website, the CRA does the following: “The CRA allows Congress to review ‘major’ rules issued by federal agencies before the rules take effect.”

The website added:  “Congress may also disapprove new rules, resulting in the rules having no force or effect.”

Clyde has previously stated that he would “introduce a resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act to override the Biden administration’s unlawful overreach.”

On March 20, 2023, FOX News reported that Clyde was about to introduce the CRA resolution.

At the time, Clyde stated, “Congress must swiftly move to block the ATF’s unconstitutional pistol brace rule, as this misguided measure turns millions of law-abiding gun owners, including many disabled veterans, into criminals for merely possessing legal firearms with stabilizing braces.”

North Carolina Congressman Richard Hudson is helping Clyde try to block this arbitrary ATF regulation.

Hudson proclaimed, “This rule jeopardizes the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners and disabled combat veterans. I’m proud to lead the fight in blocking the ATF’s unconstitutional pistol brace rule.”

Clyde’s resolution is a good first step in resisting ATF tyranny. Ultimately, the end game needs to be focused on abolishing the ATF altogether. Let’s face it, as long as this unconstitutional bureaucracy exists, it will subvert traditional legislative powers and allow for would-be tyrants to unilaterally destroy the Second Amendment should they accumulate enough momentum.

Such a tyrannical scenario must be prevented at all costs.
