GOA and GOF File Lawsuit Against ATF Over Zero Tolerance Policy for Federal Firearms Licensees

On July 11, 2023, Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) submitted a federal lawsuit in the District of North Dakota, taking on the ATF’s Zero Tolerance policy towards Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs). Â
Under this policy that the Biden regime implemented in 2023, any errors gun dealers made with their record keeping would be sufficient grounds to immediately launch a motion to revoke licenses. This lies in contrast to prior policy which called for warnings, corrective action, and then possible license revocation if the gun vendor did not demonstrate any clear improvements in record keeping. Morehouse Enterprises, which is based in Valley City, North Dakota, joined GOA and GOF in this lawsuit. Morehouse Enterprises does business as Bridge City Ordnance. The Federal Firearms Licensee is currently confronting the prospect of having their FFLs revoked over five small record keeping violations. Worse yet, none of the infractions led to an individual obtaining a firearm who was not legally allowed to do so. Even more shocking was how the ATF carried out the inspection of Bridge City Ordnance which allegedly committed the infractions right after the company teamed up with GOA and GOF in a separate lawsuit challenging the ATF’s Ghost Gun Frame and Receiver Rule last summer. Litigation is still going on in that case. Â
Erich Pratt, GOA’s Senior Vice President, published the following statement:   Â
This zero tolerance policy towards lawful commerce guaranteed by the Second Amendment is just the latest example of this Administration weaponizing federal agencies against their political enemies. It also is just one more compelling piece of evidence to support gun owners’ demands that Congress defund the ATF.
Sam Paredes, who spoke on behalf of the Board for GOF, continued by saying:
It’s ridiculous that good people trying to make an honest living are facing this assault on their livelihoods simply over inconsequential paperwork errors. GOF is proud to be lending our support in defense of Bridge City Ordnance and all of those small businesses facing devastating consequences if this Administration’s hostility towards firearms is permitted to go unchecked.
GOA is one of the few organizations that will defend the Second Amendment no matter the political circumstances. It will defend this sacred fight even in instances where the establishment gun lobby dares not to step in.
We need more organizations like this operating in US politics so that our gun rights can be preserved for future generations to enjoy.
