HISTORIC: Donald J. Trump Becomes First President to Address a Cryptocurrency Conference

Donald J. Trump spoke at the Blockworks Digital Asset Summit on Thursday, becoming the first sitting President in history to address a cryptocurrency conference.
At the Manhattan conference, Trump boasted that crypto is “as big as you can get” and gave effusive praise to the rising digital assets that may be the future basis for the global monetary system.
“Pioneers like you will be able to improve our banking and payment system and promote greater privacy, safety, security and wealth for American consumers and businesses alike,” Trump said. “You will unleash an explosion of economic growth.”
Trump talked up his administration’s accomplishments in protecting cryptocurrency.
“We’re ending the last administration’s regulatory war on crypto and Bitcoin, and that includes stopping the lawless Operation Choke Point. Operation Choke Point went beyond regulation, and I mean far beyond. Frankly, it was a disgrace,” Trump said. “But as of January 2025, all of that is over.”
“It’s an honor to speak with you about how the United States is going to dominate crypto and the next generation of financial technologies,” he added. “And it’s not going to be easy, but we’re way ahead.”
This is not the first time that Trump has made crypto history, as Big League Politics reported on how he was the first president to ever make a transaction in Bitcoin last year:
“On Wednesday, Donald Trump became the first man ever elected as U.S. President to pay for a transaction using Bitcoin – another historical feat achieved by DJT.
Trump bought burgers and beers for hungry and thirsty patrons at PubKey, a crypto-friendly restaurant located in Manhattan, prior to his rally in Long Island.
“I just made the first transaction in Bitcoin,” Trump said as the crowd cheered…
“I’m proud to be the first major party nominee in American history to accept donations in Bitcoin and crypto, and they’ve made a lot of them, I might tell you, and I appreciate it,” President Trump said during his address at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville.
“If they win this election, every one of you will be gone. They will be vicious, they will be ruthless, they will do things that you wouldn’t believe,” Trump added, noting that “175 million people in some form are involved in this world of crypto, Bitcoin, and all of the others.”
Trump also called for the U.S. to start stockpiling Bitcoin as a way to protect the economic power of the country to ward off economic and monetary peril.”
Trump’s crypto policy initiatives may turn out to be even more important than his trade or immigration policy initiatives for making America great again.
