Immigration has Driven a Large Portion of Canada’s Population Growth from 2016 to 2021

In 2021, Canada’s population grew to 37 million, which represented a 5.2% increase from 2016.
This growth was largely driven by immigration per data released on February 9, 2022, Downtowns and distant suburbs of large metropolitan areas witnessed the strongest growth.
Canada added 1.8 million people in the time period of 2016 and 2021. According to Statistics Canada’s Census 2021 release, 80% of those new residents are coming from abroad. This growth in Canada’s population has made Canada the fastest growing G7 country.
The Group of Seven nations is made up of the United States, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Japan.
Nearly 90% of new immigrants settled down in urban centers, per the Statistics Canada report. As a result of this migrant influx, the percentage of Canadians living in major urban centers is now at 73.7%. Five years ago that figure stood at 73.2%.
“Canada continues to urbanize as large urban centers benefit most from new arrivals to the country,” Statistics Canada stated.
“Rapid population growth in cities is increasing the need for infrastructure, transportation and services of all kinds -including front-line emergency services.”
In the last five years, urban downtown areas grew the fastest, increasing by 10.9% from 2016. In a similar vein, urban sprawl was also on the rise, with the most distant suburbs of major metro areas growing by 8.8% in the last five years.
Canada is one of the posterchildren for globalism. Since former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau (1968-1979, 1980-1984), proclaimed that Canada is a multicultural state back in the 1970s, Canada has used mass migration to dilute the historic Canadian nation and turn it into a veritable Tower of Babel.
What’s going on in Canada is a microcosm of a broader trend where the West is being demographically destroyed via mass migration. American populists should watch the situation in the Anglosphere and the rest of the collective West. What’s happening there will likely make its way to the states.
