Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s dinner was rudely interrupted by protestors from the Metro D.C. Democratic Socialists of America, eventually forcing her to flee the restaurant.
“Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is in a Mexican restaurant, one of the protestor’s screeched. “The f****** gall! Shame on you!”
We’re in downtown DC disrupting DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s dinner at MXDC. The irony isn’t lost on us that this is a Mexican restaurant. Nielsen has led the program to tear apart familes. We are here to tell her to put an end to separating families, to step down as head of the department, and that ICE and CBP must be abolished #abolishICE #abolishCBP

“Abolish ICE” was a favorite, albeit uncreative, chant of the group.
The group screamed, shouted and chanted at Nielsen for more than 10 minutes without being asked to leave the private establishment.
At one point, one of the protestors yelled at other patrons of the restaurant to “remember what Kirstjen Nielsen’s face looks like” for when she “comes to lock up your children.”
“We’re in downtown DC disrupting DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s dinner at MXDC,” said the group’s post on Facebook. “The irony isn’t lost on us that this is a Mexican restaurant. Nielsen has led the program to tell her to put an end to separating families, to step down as head of the department, and that ICE and CBP must be abolished.”
The protestors, of course, are fact-free.
“Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen revealed Monday that 10,000 of the 12,000 children detained at the border came to the border without parents with him, smacking down the mainstream media narrative that the Trump administration is tearing many families apart out of callous disregard for illegal immigrants.
The illegal immigrant child-detention program that was criticized during the Obama administration is a policy that President Donald Trump is trying to end, pressuring Democrats to get on board with an immigration bill that funds his Wall and creates merit-based immigration among other policy planks.”
BLP Passage Ends.
Interesting choice of civic engagement.
