Leftist Congressman, Ben Shapiro Team Up To Stop Trump’s Plan To Build Wall

Two influential Californians have paired up in an attempt to stop President Donald J. Trump from building that big beautiful wall on the southern border.

“Declaring a national emergency would be fruitless and cynical,” said #NeverTrump pundit Ben Shapiro, linking to an op-ed that he wrote on his own blog.

Shapiro’s piece found an audience in Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), a through and through leftist who, much like Shapiro, has opposed Trump at nearly every turn. Depending on how closely you follow politics, this may or may not be surprising.

“I agree with that declaring a national emergency would be fruitless and cynical. ,” Lieu said, quoting the Shapiro Tweet.

Thi dynamic is typical of elite politicians and pundits. Party affiliation really does not make a difference, as long as someone in the D.C. establishment is running the ship.

Shapiro has been an anti-Trump magnate from the start. He wrote a column called “I Will Never Vote For Donald Trump. Here’s Why,” on his blog in March of 2016.

“I will never vote for Donald Trump because I stand with certain principles. I stand with small government and free markets and religious freedom and personal responsibility. Donald Trump stands against all of these things,” the piece said.

Of course, establishment conservatives like Shapiro failed to conserve anything before Trump took office. The principles of small government and free markets are long gone in America, thanks to the constant rolling over of “conservative” politicians of Shapiro’s brand for the past 50 years.

Speaking of religious freedom, Trump has been the most pro-life president president in a generation, and likewise has dissolved the power of the federal government by slashing tens of thousands of unnecessary regulations.

But still, Shapiro finds himself on the side of liberals like Ted Lieu when it comes to the issue of immigration. Shapiro’s blog is funded by fracking billionaires Dan and Farris Wilks, who have a vested interest in cheap labor – hence the open borders advocacy. Lieu is simply a numbskull Democrat toeing the party line in order to keep his cushy Congressional gig. Together, they embody America’s political class.

Forget what the American people have demanded. Shapiro and Lieu are far too invested in their own interests to listen.
