Liberal U.S. Rep Comes Out Against Impeachment…Then is Forced to Immediately Reverse Her Position
Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-MI) offered a nuanced position on the impeachment of President Donald Trump on Sunday, claiming that such divisive proceedings could have terrible negative impacts on the country heading into next year’s election.
“We are so close to an election,” Lawrence told podcaster Charlie LeDuff of the No BS News Hour. “I will tell you, sitting here knowing how divided this country is, I don’t see the value of taking him out of office. I do see the value of putting down a marker saying his behavior is not acceptable.”
She told LeDuff that she intends to have a “discussion with the party and with the caucus” to encourage them to censure President Trump rather than impeach him.
“I want to censure,” Lawrence said. “I want it on the record that the House of Representatives did their job and they told this president and any president coming behind him that this is unacceptable behavior and, under our Constitution, we will not allow it.”
Perhaps sensing that the impeachment inquiry was not going very well for the Democrats, Lawrence had reversed her previous policy of supporting impeachment against the President.
“There has been clear examples of violations of policy, rules, and overstepping power,” Lawrence said in a press release from Oct. 3. “I feel very confident that we must move forward with impeachment.”
“The President’s lawlessness and betrayal of our Constitution confirms the need for the House’s impeachment inquiry,” she said four days after releasing her initial press release about impeachment.
However, Lawrence’s new position did not even last two full days. After she was bombarded with outrage from deranged leftists, she flip-flopped on her position yet again. She now supports impeaching President Trump once more, regardless of how much damage it may cause the nation.
“I was an early supporter for impeachment in 2017,” Lawrence told the Metro Times. “The House Intelligence Committee followed a very thorough process in holding hearings these past two weeks. The information they revealed confirmed that this President has abused the power of his office, therefore I continue to support impeachment.”
“However, I am very concerned about Senate Republicans and the fact that they would find this behavior by the President acceptable,” she added.
The Democrats are all-in on impeachment regardless of how much it backfires on them. House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) has admitted as much.
“We don’t foreclose the possibility of more depositions, more hearings,” Schiff said during an interview with CNN. “We are in the process of getting more documents all the time. So that investigative work is being done.”
Democrats are being held hostage by their radicalized constituents, who have been gaslighted by the fake news media for years and demand President Trump’s head on a platter regardless of the evidence.
