Mad Maxine Waters Tells Homeless Constituents To “Go Home”

A video has surfaced on Twitter of US House Representative Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles) telling a crowd of mostly homeless constituents to “go home.”
A large crowd of homeless Americans showed up at the Mothers and Fathers Who Care non-profit advocacy group’s office in West Athens, Los Angeles County after an unsanctioned social media post from the non-profit falsely claimed that those who showed up would receive rare vouchers for permanent, subsidized housing.
The 1:36 video has been viewed 618.5K times and has been shared 5,100 times in Twitter.
In it, the octogenarian politician is heard telling the crowd of mostly homeless people that “you cannot get Section 8 vouchers here.” And carelessly saying, “I want everybody to go home.”
A female voice from the crowd yelled, “We don’t got no home, that’s why we’re here. What home we gonna go to?”
Rep. Waters callously laughed at the comment and replied, “Nothing is going to happen here today.”
Soon after, Rep. Waters responded to a question from the Kingdom Warriors Foundation, a local housing advocacy nonprofit. Founder Mello Desire claimed that Blanca Jimenez, Rep. Water’s district director, had denied requests to meet with the congresswoman’s office to discuss the failings of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) called in by Rep. Waters that day to assist Mothers and Fathers Who Care.
“Excuse me, there’s nobody in Washington who works for their people any f— harder than I do,” Waters retorted. “I don’t want to hear this.”
The congresswoman is reported to have a net worth of $2 million. In her latest wealth disclosure, Waters listed $1.5 million worth of assets and $1.4 million worth of liabilities, with her home being valued between $1 and $4 million and barely outside of her district.
Meanwhile, California’s 43rd Congressional District remains one of the poorest, crime-ridden congressional districts in the United States.
Rep. Waters won her 2020 re-election campaign by a margin of 72-28 against Republican Joe Edward Collins III.
The 83-year-old Democratic congresswoman is in her 15th term as 43rd Congressional District US Representative and has served since 1991. The district covers much of southern Los Angeles, as well as portions of Gardena, Inglewood and Torrance.
Prior to serving as the second-most senior member of the California congressional delegation, Rep. Waters served in the California State Assembly from 1976 to 1990.
