Majority of Voters Believe that Joe Biden Has Been “Poor” on Crime

The majority of voters believe crime will be an important issue heading into the 2022 midterms.

According to a recent report by Rasmussen, President Joe Biden’s approval has fallen on this issue.

Only 30% of likely American voters gave Biden a good or excellent rating for the way his administration has tackled crime and law enforcement matters. This is a marked decrease from the figures in April, which stood at 35%

51% of voters have currently slapped Biden with a poor rating on the way he has handled crime, which is also an increase from April. In that month, this figure was at 47%.

The bulk of voters view it as an important political issue.

86% believe violent crime will be an important issue during the 2022 midterms. This includes 58% who believe the issue will be very important in November.

Just 11% don’t believe that violent crime will be an important issue that voters will take into consideration at the polls on November 8.

Biden’s approval rating on crime has experienced a wholesale decline, even among Democrats. A majority of Democrats (61%) still support the way Biden is handling criminal justice issues. This is a decrease from 65% in April.

As for Republicans, Biden’s numbers are completely down the tubes. Just 10% of Republican voters believe Biden has done a good or excellent job on criminal matters, which is a decrease from April’s figure of 14%. 17% of independent voters rate Biden’s crime policies as good or excellent. In April, that figure stood at 23%.

72% of Republicans believe violent crime will be a very important issue in the 2022 midterms, whereas 52% of Democrats and independent voters (49%) hold similar views.

As for race, 44% of black voters believe Biden is doing a good or excellent job on crime. By contrast, 28% of whites and 26% of non-whites believe Biden is handling crime as well.

53% of whites give Biden poor marks on crime, while 32% of blacks and 56% of non-white minorities give him bad ratings on crime.

Voters making over $200,000 annually gave Biden the highest ratings on crime. On other hand, voters making between $30,000 and $50,000 gave Biden the worst ratings on crime. College educated voters also tend to give Biden good ratings on crime.

The numbers are clear. Americans, by and large, want strong law & order policies. Right-wing populists must not shy away from policies that go after real criminals who commit wanton acts of violence against people and their property.

Running on an unapologetic platform of law & order is one of the simplest ways for Republicans to cruise to victory in the 2022 midterms.
