Man Who Shot Two Louisville Police Officers ONLY Charged With Assault, Wanton Endangerment

The man who allegedly shot two Louisville police officers during this week’s Breonna Taylor Black Lives Matter riots in Louisville is only being charged with assault and wanton endangerment.
26-year old Larynzo Johnson has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault on a police officer, and fourteen counts of wanton endangerment for opening fire on a formation of Louisville police officers on Wednesday night. Officers were declaring the riotous assembly an unlawful gathering when Johnson pulled a gun and fired “multiple shots” at a line of police from a distance.
Two officers, Robinson Deroches and Aubrey Gregory, were hit, and were treated at a local hospital. The injuries of the officers were not life threatening, although they shot in the gut and in the hip.
The National Police Association has called for Johnson to be charged with attempted murder for opening fire at the officers. It’s very easy to imagine how his actions could’ve killed someone.
“A police officer shot in the gut, and a police officer shot in the hip, in the middle of violent riots and looting would indicate to me that that should be – at a minimum – attempted murder,” said retired police Sergeant Betsy Brantner Smith in an interview with the Daily Mail on the charges.
You’d think that a jurisdiction such as Louisville might be less inclined to allow riotous thugs to commit crimes and escape serious consequences in the justice system with impunity unlike cities such as Portland or Seattle, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
