Marjorie Taylor Greene Says She Likes What GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy ‘Has Planned Ahead’ After Phone Conversation

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has changed her tune with regards to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and his leadership abilities after a brief conversation with the GOP leader.

Greene claimed on Thursday during an appearance on the “Firebrand” podcast with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) that McCarthy “doesn’t have the full support to be speaker.” One day later after speaking with McCarthy on the phone, she stated that she is coming around with regards to McCarthy and his leadership plans.

“I just got off a good call with [McCarthy],” Greene wrote in the pro-McCarthy tweet. “We spent time talking about solving problems not only in the conference, but for our country. I like what he has planned ahead.”

Her tweet can be seen here:

Greene’s tweet set off some anger from supporters and detractors alike:

Sources in the Capitol have spoke to Big League Politics explaining that McCarthy is bending toward Greene and other “America First” voices in the House GOP. McCarthy has indicated that he is open to giving Greene and Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) their committee assignments back if the GOP wins control of the House back in 2022.

Anti-Trump lawmakers such as Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) are enraged about Greene’s growing influence as the Republican Party undeniably moves in a populist, America First direction.

Still, many questions remain about McCarthy’s leadership heading into next year’s crucial midterm elections.

Big League Politics has reported on how McCarthy is fundraising for lawmakers who stabbed their country in the back and voted in favor of the Democrats’ unlawful impeachment proceeding for President Trump:

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has raised over six figures for several Republican Congressmen who voted to impeach President Donald Trump and joined the Democrat-led war on the Constitution after Jan. 6.

CNN has revealed that McCarthy raised six figures each for five of the ten lawmakers who voted to impeach President Trump after Jan. 6. They also noted that National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chairman Tom Emmer attended a fundraiser for Rep. Jaime Herrera-Beutler (R-WA) recently, who is being primary challenged by Trump-endorsed Iraq war veteran Joe Kent.

Kent spoke to CNN reporter Melanie Zanona about the RINOs betraying the America First base of the Republican Party and working to protect their power in Congress.

“McCarthy is talking out of one side of his mouth — saying he supports the MAGA movement, Trump and President Trump’s policies,” Kent told CNN.

“But his money is supporting Jamie Herrera Beutler and four of the other impeachment voters. It’s just part of the GOP grift. So me and the rest of the base, we’ve kind of have heard enough from them,” he added.”

Only time will tell if Greene’s hardline approach can get McCarthy to make his leadership more responsive to the America First base.
