Marjorie Taylor Greene Says Ukraine Needs Peace, Not More Military Aid

On March 3, 2023, Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene declared that the United States government needs to stop supplying military and financial aid to Ukraine and seek peace in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict.

“No money to Ukraine, and that country needs to find peace not war,” the Republican representing Georgia said during the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Greene blamed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of trying to draw the Americans into the hostilities against Russia. “Zelensky wants our sons and daughters to go die in Ukraine. And while I will look at a camera and directly tell Zelensky you better leave your hands off our sons and daughters, because they’re not dying over there,” she stated.

Greene has been one of the most outspoken opponents of the US government providing further military aid to Ukraine in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. She supported Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz’s resolution which called for the halting of assistance to Ukraine.

Unfortunately, the cruel arithmetic of DC politics shows that MTG is largely on an island with the likes of Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs, Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar, and Gaetz. The GOP is still by and large a pro-interventionist party, albeit with a slowly growing non-interventionist faction.

It’s up to America First nationalists to ensure that the non-interventionist faction wins out and takes over the GOP. The only way for foreign policy sanity to return to US politics is by embracing an America First policy of realism and restraint.
