McConnell “Wont Let Unelectable “goofballs” Win Republican Primaries
According to The New York Times, McConnell is on a campaign to take back the Senate and thwart President Trump.
Bush and Anti-Trump Republicans, lead by Mitch McConnell are trying to convince Doug Ducey the establishment Republican to run against Mark Kelly. This is but one example of McConnell interfering to thwart the influence of President Trump in the party.
The establishment is working furiously to minimize President Trump’s influence in the party. Clearly it’s not working. McConnell is bad mouthing President Trump, saying he believes President Trump is damaging the GOP. Privately he has said he won’t let unelectable “goofballs” win Republican primaries. Thus he is going against the will of the people. This is his deplorables moment.
Trump is winning this internal struggle. Larry Hogan of Maryland a moderate establishment pick has announced he would not run for Senate and Ducey of Arizona has said on many occasions he has no appetite for the bid.
McConnell has also vowed that John Thune would crush whoever runs against him. This type of rhetoric has certainly not endeared McConnell with the Populist base who see him as an establishment career politician, who would sooner cut a deal with Pelosi and Schumer then support the MAGA agenda.
As a result of all these anti Trump efforts, President Trump has made clear his goal of ousting Mitch McConnell. Like Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell is a RINO Republican In Name Only who vacillates on his beliefs. McConnell has sought to undermine Trump from the beginning and perhaps now he will be voted out as this is a Populist working class party now.
