Medical Schools Are Pushing Race Matching

According to a watchdog organization, multiple medical schools are embracing a controversial theory called “racial concordance” to rationalize the admission of students based on their race.
Irrespective of the Supreme Court’s prohibition on affirmative action in June 2023, many colleges and universities, which includes medical schools, are still using racial criteria in the admissions process.
One way the anti-whites are trying to bring racial preferences into the admissions process is through the use of the theory of racial concordance, which contends that matching patients with doctors of the same race yields positive health outcomes. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Jackson cited this concept in her affirmative action dissent.
Do No Harm, a watchdog organization that’s dedicated to removing identity politics out of medical education, recently published a report debunking this argument, “Racial Concordance in Medicine: The Return of Segregation.”
Per Do No Harm, most research does back racial concordance.
“While advocates point to a small number of studies, they are generally cherry-picked and decisively outweighed by the full body of scientific research on the topic,” the report stated.
The concept, ironically, undermines the stated goal and creates further divisions within patients and doctors of different races, per the report.
“Given the evidence, it is irresponsible for medical organizations and political actors to push, in practice or policy, for racial concordance in medicine,” the report stated.
Several leading medical organizations, such as the Association of American Medical Colleges, support this concept. In an amicus brief filed in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, AAMC contended that black physicians are “more likely” to provide more effective treatments to black patients than physicians of different races.
The association backed its assertion by alluding to a study concerning infant mortalities that was featured in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
“… clinical penalties for Black newborns treated by Black physicians are halved compared with the penalties Black newborns experience when cared for by White physicians,” the study reported.
The association contended that the study demonstrates “having a Black physician is tantamount to a miracle drug. It more than doubles the likelihood that the baby will live.”
However, when they were asked about the contention, Do No Harm said to The College Fix that there are mathematical problems with AAMC’s claim.
“The ‘clinical penalty’ is halved, but that doesn’t mean the survival rate doubles. The ‘penalty’ goes from .4% death rate to a .3% death rate, but the survival rate doesn’t double from 99.6% to 199.2% (because it’s obviously impossible),” Do No Harm said to The Fix in an email correspondence.
Do No Harm debunked AAMC’s assertion with a second argument in its report, declaring that even if the medical association had properly analyzed the study, there are still additional factors that must be considered.
“If black newborns, on average, have more severe health issues, which other evidence strongly indicates is the case, and if babies with more serious medical problems are more likely to be assigned to a white doctor, the results of this study would be significantly biased,” Do No Harm declared.
The watchdog organization’s report noted that racial concordance is widely embraced among healthcare organizations. .
The amicus brief backing racial concordance was signed by 14 medical organizations which includes “the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Student Association and the Student National Medical Association”, according to a report by Emily Fowler of The College Fix.
Yet again, the anti-whites are slithering into another space to corrupt. Hopefully, the Right starts gaining power in every space — politics, culture, business, and etc. — to ensure that every facet of American life is purged of leftist influence.
