MSNBC Host Fantasizes About Trump Resignation, Claims Trump’s Children ‘Headed to Jail’

Once again, the conspiracy-theorizing press has decided, without evidence, that President Donald J. Trump is guilty of a nefarious plot with the Kremlin to steal the 2016 election.

One of MSNBC’s resident lunatics took the story to a whole new level of insanity in a Monday night monologue that reads like anti-Trump fan-fiction.

“The president’s children stand right in the line of Mueller’s investigative progress — they stand as the next dominos to fall. But therein lies the problem, where earlier Mueller subjects have given Trump up, these two lack the option to do that,” said Chris Matthews, host of “Hardball”.

To start, the alleged “reporter” Matthews conjures up a scenario during which Trump’s children are interrogated by Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III.

“They can hardly testify against their father, which brings the country to the reckoning,” he said. “If the prosecutor will not be stopped and the kids will not fall to him, we see the president’s adult children heading to prison.”

Now Matthews has taken his fetish a bit further – alleging that Trump’s children will be charged with crimes, convicted and sentenced to jail time. All of this is pure innuendo, of course. This is not Matthews reporting on what has happened, but speculating (hoping, really) about what could happen.

“But what if the prosecutor were to offer the president an alternative, what if he were to say he would let the children walk if the old man does the same?” he continued. “They get to go scot-free if he’s willing to take the Agnew way out. That would mean giving up the presidency in exchange for acquittals all around, not just for himself, but for all his kids.”

And then, the bombshell.

Matthews’ fantasy includes a scenario in which Mueller offers the Trump children immunity in exchange for Trump’s resignation, which he calls the “Agnew way out,” though those scenarios are not exactly comparable. Spiro Agnew was forced to resign as Richard Nixon’s Vice President due to questions over tax evasion in 1973.

Oh – and when is all of this going to happen? In the next few weeks, according to the Matthews.

This junk is what passes for “journalism” on one of cable news’ most-watched networks. In fact, it is just the opposite. If ever there were a “what not to do” course in journalism school, this MSNBC segment would be on the syllabus.
