Nancy Pelosi Continues to Quote Made-Up Bible Verse

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who calls herself a Catholic, continually quotes her favorite “Bible verse” to connect with the Christian electorate – unfortunately, that verse doesn’t exist.

“Years ago, to support a push for global warming legislation, she said in an Earth Day press release: “The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us,‘”according to Fox News.  The Speaker has quoted this “Bible verse” from the House floor about 11 times since 2002.

Pelosi’s favorite “verse”, she admits, she can’t find in the Bible. But, she quotes it all the time so that’s basically the same thing. In a conference for Christian Colleges and Universities (what credibility does she have to speak there?) Madame Speaker stated:

“I can’t find it in the Bible but I quote it all the time, and I keep reading and reading the Bible. I know it is there someplace. It’s supposed to be in Isaiah, but I heard a bishop say to minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.”

“It’s in there somewhere in some words or another, but certainly the spirit of it is there,”

She does realize that just because a bishop said it, doesn’t mean it’s in the Bible, right?

Sure, it’s a good little saying – but there are plenty of those not in the Bible. The closest reference to this verse comes from Proverbs 14:31, “Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but those who are kind to the needy honor Him.” Notice, this somewhat similar verse comes from Proverbs – not Isaiah.

Sure, this Biblical misreference could have been a mere accident that she made in confused state. But it has been going on for 19 years. The misquote is simply indication that Speaker Pelosi has no clue what is in the Bible; as if her outspoken views on abortion are not evidence enough of that. Perhaps Nancy Pelosi should take a glance at the Bible instead of making up verses that sound nice – might do her some good.
