New Caravan Doubles In Two Days As It Moves Toward the U.S. Border

Published

The latest migrant caravan heading in the direction of the United States border doubled in size between Saturday and Monday, prompting a concerned statement from a U.S. embassy. Will Mexico be able to stop the caravan before it reaches the U.S. border?

Reuters reports:

Up to 3,000 migrants crossed from Honduras into Guatemala on Monday on a trek northward, after a standoff with police in riot gear and warnings from Washington that migrants should not try to enter the United States illegally.

The crowd more than doubled in size from Saturday, when some 1,300 people set off from northern Honduras in what has been dubbed “March of the Migrant,” an organizer said. The migrants plan to seek refugee status in Mexico or pass through to the United States.

Reuters could not independently verify the number of participants, but images showed a group carrying backpacks and clogging roads near the border, some waving the Honduran flag.

The impoverished nations of Central America, from which thousands of migrants have fled in recent years, are under mounting pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to do more to curb mass migration.

“We are seriously concerned about the caravan of migrants traveling north from Honduras, with false promises of entering the United States by those who seek to exploit their compatriots,” the U.S. Embassy in Honduras said in a statement on Sunday evening.

Over the Easter holiday, Americans across the country were shocked to hear of a caravan of Central Americans moving across Mexico with the goal of illegally entering the United States. The group behind the caravan, Pueblo Sin Fronteras, meaning people without borders, pledges to break immigration law in order to provide “refuge” for thousands of Central Americans.

The funding behind the group is unknown, but on their website they solicit funds through PayPal, despite their illegal activity directly breaking PayPal’s acceptable use policy.

But while the funding of the group running the caravan is unknown, it is known who is funding some of the organizations supporting them. Mother Jones is a left-wing news organization, and after news broke of the caravans, they labeled those opposed to the caravan as “trolls.” In their article, they mince words to make the attempted illegal immigrant criminals sound like nothing more than peaceful migrants.

After following the money, it becomes clear where Mother Jones’ agenda lies. A report from CNS News shows that Mother Jones has received immense funding from George Soros through the The Foundation for National Progress, which has received over $1 million from George Soros.

George Soros has a clear incentive for groups like Pueblo Sin Fronteras flooding into the United States. He has been pushing for more open immigration laws around the world, resulting in him being condemned by world leaders.

Border Patrol Officials Reporting Biden Surge in Illegal Immigration Following Election

They think they’ll be granted amnesty.

Senior Border Patrol officials are warning of a surge in illegal migration at the southern border in recent weeks, coming directly in response to perceived results of the still-pending presidential election.

Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan is ascribing a 21% increase in apprehension levels at the border over the last month to both economic circumstances in Central America and “perceived and or anticipated shifts in policies” following the November 3rd election. Morgan was speaking to the Washington Times.

CBP personnel intercepted 69,000 illegal migrants at the southern border in October, up from 58,000 in September.

Illegal immigration levels declined in early 2020 due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, but they’ve increased in recent months as border crossers flee the effects of the virus’s recession in Central America and Mexico. CBP has been authorized by the Trump administration to use expedited “expulsion” policies to return illegal immigrants to the nation they came from on the basis of coronavirus public health concerns.

Joe Biden has pledged to open the borders of the United States, stating that he intends only to deport felons convicted of violent crimes while in the country illegally. This repudiation of immigration enforcement, if actually adopted, would likely lure tens of millions- if not hundreds of millions- of unauthorized migrants to the United States in various forms in coming years.

Biden has also pledged to grant American citizenship to more than 11 million illegal aliens present in the United States. This proposal would require the cooperation of Congress, but he can reinstate the DACA amnesty program through executive action.

Asylum seekers camped out in the Mexican border city of Matamoros reportedly celebrated Biden’s perceived victory, eager for a chance to obtain access to the United States’ welfare, public education, healthcare and infrastructure.

Illegal immigration and cheap labor advocates have claimed that porous borders are an inevitability, but the contrast between President Trump’s immigration enforcement and the ramifications from the mere international perception of a Joe Biden administration seems to suggest otherwise.
