New Report Shows that Electric Vehicles Come With More Problems Than Gas-Powered Cars

According to a survey by Consumer Reports, electric vehicles (EVs) have much more problems than gas-powered vehicles.

The Consumer Reports survey asked owners of roughly 330,000 vehicles about issues they have confronted over the past year. The survey discovered that EVs have nearly 80% more problems than gas-powered cars that use traditional combustion engines.

The majority of problems consumers face with EVs, the report noted, consist of lengthy charging times, a comprehensive lack of charging stations, problems with the lithium-ion battery, outer and interior parts not fitting well, and engine failures.

Consumer Reports compiled its survey data from subscribers who owned EVs from the 2021 through 2023 model years and compared them with other vehicle models. In determining a vehicle’s average problem rate, the organization placed extra weight on severe problems such as battery or engine failures. In general,  EVs from the 2021 and 2022 model years had more than twice the problem rates of gas-powered vehicles.

Despite these problems, political elites will continue to push for electric vehicles, especially their subsidization. This is clearly going to put major strain on the working class while also creating another parasitic interest group that will live off the taxpayer dole.

Ultimately, there needs to be a free market in the automobile sector just like other sectors. It’s the only way that American consumers can obtain high quality, affordable vehicles.
