New York City Bodega Organization Demands ‘Stand Your Ground’ Law to Protect Business Owners

A New York City organization of Bodega owners is demanding a “Stand Your Ground” law after a corrupt far-left prosecutor charged a shop employee with murder for stabbing a criminal thug to death while being viciously attacked.

The United Bodegas of America is standing behind 61-year-old Jose Alba, who is facing murder charges after fending off a savage attack from a career crook scumbag, and demanding for “Stand Your Ground” laws so that individuals like Alba are protected in the future.

“Bottom line — in Florida, this is what you would consider stand your ground,” UBA spokesman Fernando Mateo said at a press conference about Alba’s case.

“That’s what New York City needs,” Mateo added.

Video of the horrifying incident can be seen here:

Mateo noted that Bodega owners are under attack all throughout New York City as Soros-funded district attorneys and prosecutors refuse to do anything about the violent thugs who rampage in their shops.

“Bodega owners, clerks, their employees are going through very similar situations as what happened to Mr. Alba [in terms of threats], and it doesn’t make the news,” he said. “But you know what? [Their assailants] are not prosecuted. Given a desk appearance ticket, if that, and they continue to terrorize small businesses all over the city every single day.”

Debbie Almontaser, who helped found the Yemeni American Merchants Association, is demanding for City Hall to spend $2.5 million to install cameras in bodegas so that perpetrators can be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

“It is important because every bodega owner and clerk across the city is living on edge because of the high rise in crime in our city,” she said. “We just lived through a pandemic where all of these clerks and bodega owners were frontline workers, essential workers.”

Big League Politics has reported on how soft-on-crime policies are destabilizing communities by design as the Radical Leftists continue their transformation of America:

The newly-elected Manhattan district attorney is pledging not to seek prison sentences for the majority of violent felony offenders in his jurisdiction, limiting incarceration only to convicted murderers and some convict of violent crimes involving weapons.

Alvin Bragg’s office announced in documents released Tuesday that “the office will not seek carceral sentence other than for homicide” or “class B violent felony in which a deadly weapon causes serious injury, domestic violence felonies,” and a handful of exceptions…

New York County is coextensive with the city borough of Manhattan. Bragg, who was elected as New York County District attorney last year, is also planning simply not to prosecute crimes involving traffic violations, interference with an arrest, trespassing, and resisting arrest.

Bragg’s office will seek a maximum prison sentence of 20 years, even in cases involving murder. This would all but assure some convicted murderers would spent approximately 15 years in prison for their crimes, a comparative drop in the bucket when weighed against the lives of their victims.

Bragg is pledging to release defendants charged with serious crimes from jail before their trials, doubling down on New York’s controversial “bail reform” law that has allowed career criminals impunity to commit a bevvy of violent offenses as they await trial. Even defendants who refuse to appear for court for violent offenses won’t face additional sanction.

Even some forms of armed robbery would be treated as misdemeanors under Bragg’s jailbreak policies.

The soft-on-crime policies that are devastating New York City will be imposed everywhere if the Radical Left gets their way. This is why the 2nd Amendment is more important than ever before.
