Number of Firearms in Circulation in the United States Reaches Over 470 Million

On January 12, 2024, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) revealed there were roughly 473.2 million firearms in the hands of civilians across the United States by the end of 2021.

Furthermore, per a NSSF press release, there are 28,144,000 rifles in circulation that fall under the arbitrary category of “assault weapons.”

According to the NSSF’s findings, there were approximately .

21,037,810 firearms made available for sale in the US in 2021 alone.

The firearms, when broken down by category, included 12,799,067 handguns, 4,832,198 rifles and 3,406,545 shotguns.

The NSSF release used data coming from Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) reports.

American gun culture is unparalleled on the world stage. The Second Amendment allows countless people to arm themselves for the purpose of self-defense. On top of that, such gun freedoms let people learn how to properly use firearms and pass that knowledge to future generations.

When many public institutions are breaking down and people are losing trust in law enforcement services, having the ability to defend one’s self and/or their property or loved ones becomes a matter of life/or death.

As a result, more Americans will gravitate towards gun ownership as a means of protection. Gun Control Inc. will obviously be angered by this development.
