POLL: Americans Who Believe Local Crime is Getting Worse Reaches 50-Year Peak
According to a Gallup poll published on October 28, 2022, the number of Americans who believe local crime is worsening has reached its highest level in 50 years.
John Haughey of The Epoch Times reported that 56% of respondents indicated that they believe there’s a growing amount of local crime than there was in 2021.
In addition, 78% stated that crime has risen nationwide since 2021, per Gallup.
Similarly, the poll discovered that worries about being a victim of crime have greatly increased since 2021.
The 56% who responded that there’s more crime in the area they live in represents a five percentage increase from the Gallup poll that was carried out in 2021.
Over 28% stated crime has fallen locally, whereas 14% believe it has stayed the same since 2021.
On a partisan basis, there is a notable amount of variation. 73% of Republican respondents believe that local crime has climbed upwards, while 51% of independents and 42% of Democrats agree.
Similarly, 95% of Republicans stated that crime is increasing nationally. Roughly 75% of independents and 61% of Democrats were in agreement.
Crime is one of the biggest problems plaguing the US at the moment. It’s the product of a permissive culture that makes excuses for criminal behavior and does not bother to punish criminals.
Such mindsets have infected political decision-making, as evidenced by soft-on–crime policies that various city and state-level officials are pursuing nationwide. In turn, scenes of utter chaos have popped up across many localities nationwide.
One of the easiest ways for nationalists to take power is by riding the generalized discontent people are facing these days and campaigning vigorously on law and order platforms.
In times of social chaos, people naturally gravitate towards strong leadership. This is one void the America First crowd can definitely fill.
