POLL: Close to Half of Asian Americans Believe Palestinians Must Receive More Support

According to a poll by AAPI Data/AP-NORC Center, nearly half of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islands indicated that the United States is not “supportive enough” of Palestinians  in the present Israeli-Hamas conflict.

Specifically, 49% of AAPI adults indicated that the US is “not supportive enough” of Palestinians in the war in Gaza. Curiously,

an AP-NORC poll conducted in November that surveyed the general population discovered that 31% of all US adults believe the US was “not supportive enough” of Palestinians.

By contrast, close to 48% of AAPI adults said the US. is “too supportive” of Israelis. Just 32% of all American adults share this view.

When the AAPI segment was broken down by political party affiliation, the survey discovered that 25% of AAPI Republican voters, 35% of APPI Independent voters, and 68% of Democrat voters stated that the US was “not supportive enough” of Palestinians.

39% of AAPI adults over the age of 60 signaled the US wasn’t supportive enough of Palestinians. By contrast, 62% of AAPI 18- to 29-year-olds believe the US was not supportive enough of the Palestinians .

Middle Eastern voters will be particularly important in certain battleground states such as Michigan where every vote will count.

Several Arab Americans and Muslim Americans, who initially backed Joe Biden in 2020, are promising to not to pull the lever for him in 2024 due to his regime’s seemingly unconditional support of Israel’s brutal military campaign in Gaza.

Overall, the US needs to stay neutral in this conflict. While Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians is awful, the US has no business picking sides here.

If anything, the US should stop subsidizing Israel and providing military aid with diplomatic cover.

The last thing the US needs is to get involved in another conflict in the Middle East.
