POLL: Voters Believe Border Security is More Important Than the Proxy War in Ukraine

Securing the borders of the United States is a higher priority for voters than the war in Ukraine, and most agree with a Republican senator’s criticism of more military aid for Ukraine.

According to a poll carried out by Rasmussen, 64% of likely United States voters believe it is important for the US to send military aid to Ukraine, which includes 36% who view it as very important.

33% of voters do not believe sending US military aid to Ukraine is important, which includes 16% who said it’s not at all important.

By contrast, 87% believe it’s important for the US to obtain its borders, which includes 63% who believe it’s very important. Only 10% don’t believe securing the US’s southern border with Mexico is important.

Ohio Senator J.D. Vance has been one of the most prominent opponents of the $60 billion Ukraine aid package in the Senate. He recently proclaimed the following about Ukraine:

“We must fix our country before devoting more resources to Ukraine.”

67% of likely voters agree with Vance’s statement, which includes 47% who strongly agree. 29% of voters are in disagreement with Vance’s quote, which includes 15% who strongly disagree.

84% of Republican voters, 54% of Democrat voters, and 62% of independent voters at least somewhat agree with Vance’s statement about the need to “fix our country before devoting more resources to Ukraine.”

54% of Democrat voters, 20% of Republican voters, or 32% of independent voters believe it is very important for the US to send military aid to Ukraine.

80% Republican voters, 47% of Democrat voters or 65% of independent voters believe it is very important for the US to secure its borders.

91% of white voters, 73% of black voters, and 83% of other non-black minorities believe it is at least somewhat important for the US to clamp down on its borders.

US military aid to Ukraine is viewed as at least somewhat important by 79% of self-identified liberal voters, 66% of moderate voters, and 51% of conservative voters. Liberals are the political cohort that is most likely to disagree with the following statement, “We must fix our country before devoting more resources to Ukraine.”

As far as income categories are concerned, voters making over $100,000 are most likely to view the deployment of US military aid to Ukraine as very important. Individuals making below $30,000 annually are most likely to strongly agree with Vance’s quote.

Overall, American voters know that the immigration crisis is a massive problem that must be addressed, lest the US want to turn into a multicultural, Tower of Babel that the Founding Generation would not even recognize.

Too bad, the political class won’t act on this and does everything possible to send money abroad, instead.
