POMPEO WRONG: Pentagon Confirms Iran Was Not Plotting Imminent Attack Before Soleimani Strike

In the immediate aftermath of the drone strike on Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo rushed to the fake news media to claim that Iran was plotting an imminent attack against the United States.

“He was actively plotting in the region to take actions – a big action as he described it — that would have put dozens if not hundreds of American lives at risk. We know it was imminent,” Pompeo said during an appearance on CNN following Soleimani’s assassination.

Pompeo claimed that the strike on Soleimani outside of a Baghdad airport prevented Iran from committing an imminent attack against U.S. interests.

“These were threats that were located in the region,” Pompeo said. “Last night was the time that we needed to strike to make sure that this imminent attack … was disrupted.”

“What was sitting before us was his travels throughout the region, his efforts to make a significant strike against Americans,” Pompeo said during another appearance on Fox News.

“There would have been many Muslims killed as well, Iraqis and people in other countries,” he added.

However, the Pentagon has come out – less than two weeks later – and admitted the obvious that Pompeo misled the American people about an imminent attack being plotted by Soleimani and Iran.

U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper said on Sunday that there was no specific evidence showing that Iran was planning to attack the U.S. before the Soleimani strike, and there was no evidence that Soleimani’s demise prevented any attack from taking place.

“What the president said was that there probably could be additional attacks against embassies. I shared that view,” Esper said during an episode of CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“The president didn’t cite a specific piece of evidence,” he added.

When pressed about whether or not any evidence exists, Esper finally admitted that he has never come across it.

“I didn’t see one with regards to four embassies,” he said, referencing a comment made by President Trump.

Under the counsel of Pompeo, Trump has also referenced the non-existent evidence of the imminent attack that was being plotted by Iran before Soleimani was assassinated.

“We will tell you probably it was going to be the embassy in Baghdad,” Trump said on Friday. “I can reveal that I believe it would have been four embassies.”

Pompeo has been manipulating Trump with dubious intelligence to goad him into waging war with Iran for quite some time, despite the fact that the President ran for higher office on the platform of bringing troops home from the Middle East.

This is not the only time that Pompeo has been caught being dishonest with the American people. He has stated on the record that he is proud to be a manipulator, and serve the deep state by spreading propaganda on behalf of the military-industrial complex.

“What’s the cadet motto at West Point? You will not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those who do. I was the CIA director. We lied, we cheated, we stole. It’s — it was like — we had entire training courses. It reminds you of the glory of the American experiment,” Pompeo said to a group of students at Texas A&M University on April 15.

“Diplomacy and military strike go hand in hand,” Pompeo said at the same event, showing how he is an “America Last” warmonger. “They are indeed intimately related; each relies on the other.”

Before he wormed his way into the administration, Pompeo compared Trump to former President Barack Obama and pushed for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) to win the 2016 Republican nomination for the presidency.

Pompeo has become the most duplicious and dangerous subversive element within the White House.
